ARLINGTON, Texas (Interstat) — The Texas Rangers will try to get back to .500 and gain ground in the American League West when they host the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday night at Globe Life Park. Texas enters the game with a 45-45 record after a 6-3 loss to the Detroit Tigers on Sunday. The Rangers have dropped two straight following a four-game winning streak. The Angels, meanwhile, are 36-55 and have lost six in a row after a 7-5 defeat against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday. Rookie right-hander Kumar Rocker is scheduled to start for Texas. Rocker (4-2) has shown promise in his first full season, including a dominant outing at Toronto on June 28 in which he allowed no runs over six innings while striking out five. However, his most recent start against Detroit was less sharp; he allowed five hits and three earned runs in 4 1/3 innings, striking out four. Rocker has 29 strikeouts in 30 2/3 innings over his last six starts. Shortstop Zach Neto has been the Angels’ most productive hitter of late. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs in Sunday’s loss. Over his last 10 games, Neto is batting .289 with two home runs and seven RBIs, though he has also been hitless in four of those contests. The Angels have won the last four meetings between the teams, including a 2-0 victory Tuesday night. Texas has dropped five of its last six games against Los Angeles. Angels starter Reid Detmers has struggled this season, carrying a 5.67 ERA into the matchup. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-3 Rangers victory. Following Wednesday’s game, the two teams meet again Thursday afternoon. Texas then returns home to face the Houston Astros, while the Angels travel to Minnesota.
