Preview: Reds, Twins Look to Break Tie in Chilly, Wet Conditions BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (Interstat) — Two teams with identical records and a series opener already dampened by weather will meet again Saturday when the Cincinnati Reds face the Minnesota Twins at Target Field. First pitch is scheduled for the evening, though a forecast of 48 degrees and rain threatens further disruptions after Friday’s series opener was postponed. Both clubs enter at 11-8. The Reds will send right-hander Taj Bradley (3-0) to the mound. Bradley has been a bright spot in the early season, while left-hander Andrew Abbott (0-2) has struggled. Cincinnati is looking to bounce back after being shut out 3-0 by the San Francisco Giants on Thursday, despite a strong six-inning, two-hit start from rookie Chase Burns. Burns, a player to watch for Cincinnati, has been inconsistent but brilliant at times. He tossed six scoreless innings in that loss to the Giants, following a rough outing against the Los Angeles Angels on April 10. His season highlights include a nine-strikeout performance in a 2-1 win at Texas on April 5. The Twins counter after a 9-5 loss to Boston on Wednesday. Third baseman Ryan Kreidler homered and drove in three runs in that defeat, and has homered in two of his last three games, making him a key bat to watch for Minnesota. Both bullpens are coming off recent rest due to Friday’s postponement. Cincinnati’s Sam Moll and Connor Phillips combined for 1 2/3 scoreless innings Thursday, while Minnesota’s Kody Funderburk and Justin Topa each pitched a perfect inning of relief Wednesday. According to National Statistical’s game simulator, the projected final score is Twins 7, Reds 5. Following Saturday’s contest, the teams will conclude the series Sunday afternoon before embarking on lengthy road trips. The Reds head to Tampa Bay for three games starting Monday, while the Twins travel to face the New York Mets for a three-game set beginning Tuesday.
