Brewers, Nationals Set for Rubber Match in Milwaukee MILWAUKEE (Interstat) — The Milwaukee Brewers will look to salvage a series split and maintain their early lead in the NL Central when they host the Washington Nationals in the finale of a three-game set Sunday afternoon at American Family Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. CDT under a forecast of rain and 53-degree temperatures. The Brewers (8-5) have dropped the first two games of the series, including a 7-3 loss on Friday where Washington’s Jake Irvin delivered five solid innings. Milwaukee will turn to right-hander Brandon Woodruff (1-0) to stop the skid. Washington (5-8) will counter with righty Zack Littell (0-1). Woodruff seeks to build on a strong start to his season, while Littell aims for his first win in a Nationals uniform. A player to watch for Milwaukee is first baseman Jake Bauers, who provided all of the Brewers’ offense with a three-run homer in Friday’s loss. For Washington, right-hander Jake Irvin is notable not at the plate but for his recent performance on the mound against this same Brewers lineup just two days ago, holding them to two hits over five innings. The Nationals have won four of their last six games after a slow start. The Brewers, after beginning the season 6-2, have lost three of their last five. According to National Statistical’s game simulator, the Brewers are projected to win 5-3. Milwaukee has been installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of -1.5. The over/under is set at 7.5 runs. Following the game, the Nationals travel to Pittsburgh for a four-game series beginning Monday. The Brewers have an off-day Monday before opening a three-game series at home against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday.
