Twins, Blue Jays Set for Rubber Match in Toronto TORONTO (Interstat) — The Minnesota Twins and Toronto Blue Jays will decide their three-game series Sunday afternoon at Rogers Centre, with both teams looking to build momentum after splitting the first two contests. The Twins (8-7) evened the series with a 7-4 victory Saturday behind a strong start from Joe Ryan and home runs from Trevor Larnach and Brooks Lee. Toronto (6-8) took the opener 10-4 on Friday. Minnesota is scheduled to start right-hander Max Scherzer (1-1). The veteran last pitched on April 6, earning a win against Detroit with five innings of three-hit, two-run ball. He will be opposed by Toronto right-hander Taj Bradley (2-0). Bradley has been effective early, not allowing more than two earned runs in either of his first two starts. A player to watch for the Twins is Ryan, who dominated the Blue Jays lineup Saturday, allowing just two hits and two runs over seven innings while striking out five. For Toronto, reliever Spencer Miles will look to build on his 3 2/3 scoreless innings of relief in the same game. Both clubs have experienced inconsistent starts to the season. Minnesota has won four of its last six games, while Toronto has dropped eight of its last eleven after beginning the year 3-0. According to National Statistical’s game simulator, the Twins are projected to win 5-2. Following Sunday’s finale, the Twins return home to open a series against Boston on Monday. The Blue Jays begin a six-game road trip in Milwaukee on Tuesday. Probable Starters: MIN: RHP Max Scherzer (1-1, 4.15 ERA). TOR: RHP Taj Bradley (2-0, 2.25 ERA). First Pitch: 1:07 p.m. EDT. Forecast: Indoors at Rogers Centre.
