Preview: Astros at Mariners, Sunday, April 12, 2026 SEATTLE (Interstat) — Two American League West rivals looking to halt early-season slides will meet under rainy skies Sunday evening when the Houston Astros visit the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park. First pitch is scheduled for 5:10 p.m. PDT in conditions forecast to be around 50 degrees with rain. The Astros (6-8) and Mariners (5-9) will play the rubber match of their three-game series after splitting the first two contests. Seattle took Friday’s opener 9-6 before Saturday’s game was postponed due to inclement weather. Houston will send right-hander Logan Gilbert (0-2) to the mound seeking his first win of the 2026 campaign. Gilbert has struggled out of the gate, but will face a Mariners lineup that has been inconsistent offensively. A key for the Astros will be slugger Yordan Alvarez, who homered and drove in three runs in Friday’s loss. Alvarez is 4 for 7 with a home run and four RBIs in the series so far. Seattle will counter with right-hander Emerson Hancock, who earned the win against these same Astros on Friday. Hancock allowed three earned runs over five innings in that outing. He was brilliant in his season debut on March 29, throwing six no-hit innings against Cleveland. Both clubs enter Sunday having lost four of their last five games. The Astros are concluding a difficult road trip, while the Mariners just returned home after a 2-4 trip through Texas and Anaheim. According to National Statistical’s game simulator, the projection favors Houston with a predicted final score of 5-2. The teams are scheduled to meet again Monday afternoon to conclude their four-game set before both embark on new series. Houston returns home to face Colorado, while Seattle travels to San Diego.
